The Webcam has arrived! Make sure the sites you choose and computer(s) you’re using are working properly (preview your visual tour before class). Then gather everyone around to experience a fascinating “live” trip which will, hopefully enrich the curriculum and motivate further inquiry. Here are a few of the many live web cameras running 24/7 on the net. Use a search engine (www.google.com) to find specific locations / subjects.
Geography: take a virtual fieldtrip Seattle. This technology allows the viewer a 360 degree look from the Space Needle: http://www.spaceneedle.com/webcam/ Or perhaps a spectacular look down on Niagara Falls http://www.fallsview.com/Stream/NightVisionRefresh.shtml
#2 http://www.camcentral.com Try the “category menu” approach - Airports: here’s camcentral’s view from the south departure area at the Edmonton Airport:

#3 Closer to home is this Bald Eagle Nest webcam on Hornby Island, BC.
